Qutub Minar

The Qutub Minar is named after Qutb ud-Din Aibak, the first Muslim ruler of Delhi and its construction began during his reign in 1192.
The five storeys of the Qutub Minar are decorated with alternating projections and recesses and are surrounded by a spiralling staircase with 379 steps. The first three storeys are made of red sandstone while the last two storeys are made of marble and white sandstone.
The topmost storey houses a small chamber which offers stunning views of Delhi from its windows. Visitors can also spot various birds nesting on ledges on the sides of the tower.
